First of all - welcome to the family.
What just happened isn't small. You didn't just make a decision - you stepped into a relationship with the living God. Heaven is celebrating right now (Luke 15:7). And so are we.
But we know that the moment after saying yes can feel a little overwhelming. What do you do now? Where do you go from here? That's exactly what this post is for.
1 Talk to God - Just Be Honest
Prayer isn't a formula or a script. It's a conversation. God already knows everything about you - your doubts, your past, your questions. You don't have to clean yourself up before you talk to Him.
Start simple. Tell Him how you're feeling. Thank Him for what He did on the cross. Ask Him to lead you. That's it. That's prayer.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." - Philippians 4:6
2 Open the Bible - Start with John
The Bible is how God speaks to you. It's not just an old book - it's alive. Start with the Gospel of John. It's the fourth book in the New Testament and it was written specifically so that you might believe in Jesus and have life in His name (John 20:31).
Read a little each day. Don't rush. Let it sink in. If you don't have a Bible, you can download the YouVersion Bible app for free on your phone.
3 Get Baptized
Baptism is one of the first steps Jesus asks of new believers. It's a public declaration - a way of saying out loud and in front of others, "I'm following Jesus."
It doesn't save you - your faith does. But it's an important act of obedience and a powerful moment in your walk with God.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." - Matthew 28:19
We offer baptism at Hope City Church and would love to celebrate that moment with you.
4 Find Your People
Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. The Christian life is a team sport. You need people around you who will pray with you, encourage you, challenge you, and walk with you through the hard seasons.
That's what the church is for. Not a building - a family.
At Hope City Church, you'll find a Spirit-filled community where worship is powerful, Jesus is at the center, and everyone is welcome. We'd love for you to be part of it.
5 Don't Worry About Being Perfect
You're going to mess up. Every follower of Jesus does. Grace isn't just what got you saved - it's what keeps you going. When you fall, get back up. Confess it to God, receive His forgiveness, and keep moving.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9
The goal isn't perfection. The goal is relationship. Keep showing up.
We're Here for You
